First extrutec order about one Induction Heater in classical “Stand-Alone” configuration

At the turn of the year extrutec successfully installed and commissioned its first induction heater in "stand-alone" design at HAI Extrusion S.R.L in Chisineu-Cris, Romania.

The system is fed by the latest IGBT converter technology with a variable frequency range of up to 80 Hz and includes the Power Focus Technology TM.

A technical description of the Power-Focus TechnologyTM can be found here.

The order was placed in summer 2020 and after a short installation and commissioning phase, the entire system could be handed over to 3-shift production on schedule at the beginning of 2021.

First extrutec order from Step-G in Bitterfeld

With the commissioning of extrutec as supplier of a new, very powerful gas furnace system for the 50MN-12" press line by Step-G in Bitterfeld, a first order for the Bitterfeld site could be won.

In addition to a high power density, the plant is characterized by the required handling of very short billets of only 450mm length at diameter 305mm with the proven extrutec furnace drive system.

The installation of this plant will take place at the end of 2021.

New Order from Cansan Aluminium

Extrutec will supply a complete new and state-of-the-art profile cooling system for the new 10"-44MN extrusion line for Cansan Aluminium in Bursa, Turkey, consisting of a two-zone water quench section (1m+3m) and an approx. 8m long high-speed air cooling section, both integrated in a cooling hood and corresponding run-out table. The installation is scheduled for spring 2022.

In addition to this order, extrutec has been contracted to supply another complete new state-of-the-art profile cooling system for the planned new 8"-28MN extrusion line at Cansan Aluminium for the same site. This plant also consists of a two-zone water quench section with length division (1m+2m) and an approx. 8m long high-speed air cooling section, both integrated in a cooling hood and corresponding run-out table.

Relocation to the new company building

As of today (21.01.2021) extrutec GmbH can be reached at its new address (Feldstraße 25, D-78345 Moos). The new location is only five kilometers away from the former company headquarters. How to improve the process efficiency of a hybrid heating concept

The combination of an induction furnace and a gas-fired pre-heating furnace in the heating of billets is a very efficient concept. Especially for the flexible heating of non-ferrous metals it offers numerous process advantages. In the extrusion industry, particularly for aluminium, this concept is state of the art. The most efficient solution in this case is the so-called inline furnace which connects the two heating systems in a row in order to reduce the thermal losses. The following article describes how to improve the utilisation of waste heat as well as presents operating data and energy usage values.

Reporting in the International ALUMINIUM Journal

On the occasion of the new corporate design, the November issue of the International ALUMINIUM Journal published an article of several pages, which presents the innovations at extrutec. However, the new public image played only a minor role, apart from the reporting on the Inline Oven 2.0 and the presentation of the extrutec Eco Show Unit (ESU). It reflects the internal development of extrutec GmbH.

The article is under the overall heading We’ve made good use of the time”. This alludes to the many innovations that were developed during the Corona crisis.

New extrutec corporate design is published

Simultaneously with the publication of the November issue of the International ALUMINIUM Journal and Aluminium Praxis, extrutec is changing over to the new corporate design. In both magazines, extrutec is represented with the new corporate design and detailed reporting. New colors and a revised logo reflect the internal development at extrutec. The orientation towards a holistic solution provider for different branches of industry and different metals, respectively, together with the foundation of the new business division Electrical Furnaces / Inductiontechnology is the trigger for this visual change.
