Recap of Our Customer Event 2026 – Heating Up Down Under

Over the past two weeks, we had the pleasure of welcoming customers, partners, and industry professionals from around the world to our Customer Event in Menden. The event provided an ideal platform for personal exchange, insightful technical discussions, and a shared look at the future of the aluminium extrusion industry.

The focus was on innovative solutions for energy-efficient production processes, sustainable heating technologies, and the continuous optimization of equipment and processes. Numerous valuable discussions and new connections once again demonstrated how important direct dialogue is for driving innovation across our industry.

 

 

 

 

 

One of the highlights was the live demonstration and commissioning of our EHKO Inline Furnace with Energy Saving Unit (ESU), which will soon begin its journey to our customer Capral Aluminium in Australia. The consistently positive feedback and strong interest from visitors – especially from Capral itself – were greatly appreciated and confirmed the success of the project presentation.

Together with our colleagues from TCT Induktionstechnik GmbH, we also showcased our latest developments in induction technology, automation, digitalization, and sustainable heating solutions.

Successful Project Completion at Jiangsu Changbao Steeltube Ltd.

 

We are proud to share the successful completion of a major induction heating project for our customer Jiangsu Changbao Steeltube Ltd.,Co. Jintan, China - one of the world's leading producers of seamless stainless steel tubes.

Our team at extrutec group delivered a fully inductive billet heating line for a 30 MN extrusion press, designed to process demanding materials including austenitic, duplex and super duplex stainless steels, as well as nickel-based alloys such as Inconel.

Key project highlights:
⚡ 8 MW installed power
⚡ Fully inductive heating concept:

  • Horizontal preheating up to 800°C
  • Vertical intermediate heating up to 1150°C
  • Vertical final heating up to 1300°C

⚡ First industrial implementation of a new switchgear architecture based on
IGBT Direct Converter technology in this application field
⚡ Processing billets from Ø145–220 mm and lengths up to 1000 mm

The project was engineered, manufactured, installed, commissioned, and optimized within just 14 months, representing approximately 18,000 project hours.

The new heating system delivers:

✔ Excellent temperature uniformity
✔ High flexibility across billet sizes and alloy grades
✔ Improved process stability
✔ Optimized conditions for demanding extrusion processes
✔ Enhanced energy efficiency
